When medical outcomes are significantly different from expectations, what is one to do? This course reviews the definition of an unanticipated outcome, the importance of perspective (the physician’s, the patient’s and/or the family’s), and the practical steps to consider in order to develop a plan and successfully manage these types of outcomes. Case studies form the foundation of the course.
